WELCOME TO THE

A Moody Summer Shoot | Eagle, Idaho

This Ralph Lauren-inspired shoot aimed to combine luxury with a relaxed equestrian atmosphere to create inspiration for a luxury wedding day at a private estate. Filled with elegant yet relaxed details, our goal was to show how having your wedding day on your private residence doesn’t mean compromising rich & beautiful details. We integrated rich summer tones into the day – purples, yellows, and oranges all popped with the olive green & wood tones providing an organic background. The focus for photos were on intimate moments & candid storytelling. Again, showing how a luxury wedding day doesn’t have to compromise on intimacy & authenticity. We hope you enjoy these photographs & can use them as inspiration for your upcoming day.

A little bit more about me

Hello! Holly here. I am so excited to meet you soon and hear all about your wedding day. Here are some quick fun facts about me so you can get to know me more…

My Hobbies

I love hosting themed parties with friends, decorating spaces, pretending I know how to garden, making overpriced charcuterie boards, and finding kitchsy Airbnbs.

My Pets

Our matching set. First came Millie then came Billie. Millie loves neck scratchies and Billie loves tennis balls and we love them both.

My Husband

We met in college but reconnected in San Francisco. We love going on drives to coffee shops, hitting up yard sales, and tinkering on our old cars.

My Wedding

We got married in 2020 in an intimate wedding in one of our favorite places: Palm Springs. We honeymooned in Japan 3 years later! Every year, Julian and I do a trip to renew our vows. Our first year we went to Vegas and renewed them in a pink Cadillac with Elvis! Highly recommend.

My Home

We love our little, old home. While it is a never-ending construction project, we are big fans of it’s charm, quirks, and the many memories we have made in it. We also love living in Boise! Idaho has so many wide open spaces and endless nature to explore.

Thank you for reading & I cannot wait to meet you!

Gathering’s Core Values

I aspire to make your big day the most special and wonderful day of your life. I take your vision and make it a reality. By selecting the very best vendors, managing your budget, creating a custom timeline, & so much more, I take care of the planning so you can concentrate on all the exciting events that accompany this time of your life.

You’re probably overwhelmed with all the wedding information out there, but don’t worry, you’re not alone. I am here to help make your lives a little easier during a time that is often unnecessarily stressful for a lot of couples. Be it requiring help to find linens to match your wedding aesthetic or needing help to understand the best lighting for golden hour photos – I am here to answer any and all queries.

I also pride myself on working with my set of core values every day. I always strive to do my best for my couples, and use these core values to guide me every day…

01 Make it personal

Whatever makes you unique and authentic as a couple is what I want to build your wedding day around. I always make sure everything from the planning process to the day itself is tailored to who you both are and what you envision your day to be like

02 Approach it Creatively

I love thinking outside the box to solve problems. Whether it be helping you pick out your color palette, finding a more affordable solution, or solving a wedding day emergency, we love approaching everything with an inventive and can-do attitude

03 Lead with Empathy

I understand wedding planning can be a tough process. There are lots of decisions to be made, lots of family dynamics and opinions to navigate, and life doesn’t get less busy just because you are wedding planning. I always make sure to give my couples grace during the planning process. I’m here with you!

Vibrant & Modern Shoot | TRICA, Boise

When dreaming up ideas for this shoot, we knew we wanted to play with blending downtown chic and traditional romance. Pulling inspiration from vibrant summer colors, we anchored our palette around the all-local, women-grown florals sourced by Spry Floral. We then added royal & decadent elements like the pink coupe glassware from Flying China, soft velvet linens, and a dramatic Pronovias gown train. TRICA’s grand windows provided the perfect stately backdrop for our opulent design. But we wanted to put a modern twist on the elegance, so we balanced it out with concrete floral pillars, a flirty outfit change, Hollywood glam by Areli Simpson Beauty, and a retro getaway car to keep the aesthetic playful and fresh. If there is one major trend we see this year, it is color, and we loved using lots of it in everything from the paper goods to the sumptuous speciality cocktails by Boise Bartenders. As couples start to place more importance on spontaneity and candid moments during their wedding days, we aimed to let that same joyful spirit shine through in the photography by Josh Johnson Weddings and video by OLVE Films. After all, why not have all the fun and all the color on your wedding day?

Unique ways to include guests in your ceremony…

When it comes to including guests in your ceremony, there are many options! Getting them involved keeps guests engaged, makes your ceremony more lively and warm, and is nice especially if you don’t want to do all the talking during your ceremony!

Idea # 1 – Ring Warming Ceremony

Pass around your wedding bands at the beginning of the ceremony and ask your guests to hold the rings for a second, silently wish you well, and then pass them on to the next guest. Your rings now hold the blessings of all your guests before you exchange them, how special!

Idea # 2 – Verbal Blessing

You can do a call and response style verbal blessing with all your guests! Ask them if they will support you throughout your marriage journey, to which they can respond a resounding “We do!”

Idea # 3 – Build Your Bouquet

Have guests pick out single stem flowers as they arrive, and then gather flowers from your guests as you walk down the aisle or before the ceremony, if you are choosing to mingle then. Have someone bring a ribbon and there you go – a bouquet made with by your family and friends, with love.

Idea # 4 – Eternity Flower

Have guests come up during the ceremony and lay down single stem flowers in an infinity shape around both of you to represent your never-ending love!

Idea # 5 – Processional

Make it a parade! Join guests or designate a leader to show them the way to the ceremony or reception. Make it even more jovial by adding flags, kazoos, and balloons!

Idea # 6 – Reading

Ask one or multiple guests to read your favorite poem, relationship advice, or the story of how you met. Breaking it up into multiple readers makes the reading even more engaging! And no need for the guests to make it to the front of the ceremony – I think it’s cool when they just pop right up in the middle of the crowd and start reading!

Idea # 7 – Marriage Advice

Have one or a few guests read out their best marriage advice. Even cuter, include the question “What is your secret to a happy, healthy marriage” in your RSVPs and read those answers aloud during your ceremony!

Idea # 8 – Moment of Silence

Before your ceremony starts, ask guests to hold hands and bow their heads in a moment of silence to center themselves and bring peace to the ceremony before it begins. Alternatively, ask guests to close their eyes and take 3 deep cleansing breaths before it starts.

Idea # 9 – Flower Picking

Go flower picking with your wedding party or even all your guests to find flowers to decorate your big day with. Just make sure it is allowed in the area!

Idea # 10 – Unity Candle

Having a night or sunset ceremony? Give your guests candles to light as you also do a unity candle-lighting ceremony. The result will feel very unifying and will create a beautiful glow. This is also a good moment to remember those who have passed, if you want to incorporate a few words about your loved ones here.

Idea # 11 – Parent Vows

In addition to the vows to each other, create vows to your partner’s parents. Maybe reflect on your relationship so far and how you promise to uphold a great relationship with them too! This is also a good part for them to share their blessings over the marriage as well, if wanted!

Wedding Day Vendor Gratuity Guide

Understanding what to tip each vendor can be confusing! While you should always tip what you are comfortable, here is the standard guide for tipping. There are many different opinions about tipping for weddings and the truth is – there is no right answer. But tips are always appreciated for your vendors, like any service industry position, and can even ensure that your vendors put in even a little more extra effort into your special day!

Depending on your preferences and what the vendor offers, you can tip with cash the day of the event or via Venmo. Tips should always be given to the vendor the day of the event, either right before they leave the event or when they arrive. If tipping with cash, I can be in charge of the envelopes to hand out cash at the end of the night, or you can enlist a family member to do so!

Want to make sure you can support your wedding vendors in other ways, in addition to tipping them?? Write them a glowing review after your wedding and send them over photos from your photographer (pending that is alright by the photographer, of course!) that they can use for their website and social media!

Photographer

Typically, you will tip around 15-20% for a photographer. If you decided to also hire a second shooter, a $50-$75 tip per person is a nice gesture!

Videographer

Tipping $100-$200 per videographer is appreciated!

Caterer

Usually caterers include a minimum tip that is from 15 to 20% in your contract.

Bartender

Same as above! Also ask the bartender if they can bring a tip jar so they can add to the amount of tips they get in the night, especially if you are doing a partially hosted bar!

Baker

Bakers do not typically require a tip but tipping the delivery team around $20 each is kind, especially if you are having a complex setup for your cake or dessert station!

Florist

3-5% is standard for tipping your florist!

Entertainment

For DJs, classical musicians, or a live band, $25 to $50 per musician is a great gesture!

Transportation

Tipping drivers for your event 15-20% is average. This can be for the drivers of your charter buses or your personal chauffeur, such as the one that will come with your getaway car!

Officiant

Around $100 is an average tip for your officiant!

Rental Labor

Tipping delivery folks who help with setup and breakdown of your furniture rentals about $15 per person is very kind!

Hair and Makeup Artist

Like any salon visit, 15-20% is standard and appreciated for their services of glamming you for your big day!

Wedding Planner

Since I will be your planner, don’t want to tell you what to do here! Feel free to do your own research and do what feels right!
